5. EASTMAN UPTOWN ARCHTOP 2007 MINT CONDITION SERIAL #01227
Model AR810CE Premium tonewoods and meticulous craftsmanship form a harmonious relationship that has made Eastman's name in the archtop guitar market. The choice of woods and the time honored processes followed to craft these guitars create an organically acoustic tone that is unrivaled. Chords are full and complex while single notes are crisp and well defined. Custom Kent Armstrong pickup compliments the sound of the wood and delivers a smooth balanced tone. The gold and ebony fittings provide form and function and the hand rubbed violin –style nitro-cellulous finish is as beautiful as it is functional. I have had several of these guitars and each one has been slightly different, owing to each being hand built and hand finished. This is the best sounding one I have played. Anybody familiar with these guitars will agree that if they were made in the U.S. with the same materials and by equally high quality luthiers as are making them in China, they would be priced in the $8,000 to $12,000 range. Original molded fiberglass hardshell case. $1,900.
6. LES PAUL SPECIAL 1957 All ORIGINAL. FINE CONDITION SERIAL # 7 3922 $17,500.
7. NATIONAL DUOLIAN (CIRCA 1930's)
8. NORTHWOOD ACOUSTIC
Northwood Guitars of Canada are producing some of the finest handmade acousic masterpieces. This instrument is the traditional OM size with scalloped braces and old growth.AAA quarter sawn brazilian rosewood. The fit and finish of the guitar is stunning. The tone is marvelous. To be able to buy a guitar of this quality for under $7,500 is amazing. Northwood guitars are a favorite of James Taylor, who plays several models. This Orchestra Model has a wonderful, even range of tone well suited for recording. Fingerstyle guitarists will find that its smaller dimensions give added mid-range definition to it's sound. Slightly shallower in depth, the OM is also very comfortable to play. The Northwood Orchestra Model uses the same 25 1/2" scale and 14 fret neck found on all Northwood models.HSC. $4,700.00
9. BRUCE SEXHAUER COO' STIK DOMINATOR SERIAL # 531295.
Bruce Sexhauer is commonly regarded as one of the finest California luthiers operating today. In addition to making guitars for Eric Schoenberg, he builds guitars under his own name in a variety of innovative models.
Sexhauer maintains a workshop in Petaluma California. Sexhauer is the kind of guy who is brilliant at everything he does. Undoubtedly a closet or charter member of the Mensa society, he is equally at home on his handmade surfboard (he used to make those too!) or his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Known also, as a cunning linguist, Sexhauer has been known to lease out his name to a number of Bay Area Brothels. (Just kidding Bruce!) Only seven 'Coo Stik' Dominators were built and if commissioned to build one today, would be in the neighborhood of $8,000. The Engleman Spruce top is designed with a dome top inspired by the early Larson Brothers Guitars. A dome top is a slightly arched top, not to be confused with a pressed top or a carved top. Sexhauer chose X- bracing for the top which gives the guitar superb projection and clarity at the same time. The guitar sports an under the saddle acoustic pickup and an endpin jack. The lower bout is 17”
(From the label) THIS GUITAR IS A “COO STIK DOMINATOR AND WAS COMPLETED IN DECEMBER OF 1995 BY BRUCE SEXAUER IN SAUSALITO, CA. THE TOP IS SOLID ENGLEMAN SPRUCE, THE BACK AND SIDES ARE SOLID MAPLE AND THE TRIM IS OF EBONY. It is signed by the luthier (Bruce Sexhauer) and states his warrantee, “I WILL STAND BEHIND THIS GUITAR WHILE I LIVE.” Hard shell TKL Archtop Jazz case. $5,500.00
10. PRS McCARTY HOLLOW BODY I 10 TOP MINT CONDITION SERIAL
Serial # 4 90616. It simply doesn't get any better than this. Spectacular hand carved Flamed Maple #10 Grade Top, Solid carved mahogany sides and back. With the PRS ‘Wide Fat Neck’ and abalone bird inlays, this 2004 model guitar is a breeze to play and sings better than my 335 dot. Better sounding due to the soundpost beneath the set bridge, and the specially voiced McCarty Archtop Pickups, this model lists for over $6K new. OHSC $3,000.
11. GIBSON GB3 GUITAR BANJO 1926 SERIAL # 8163-48 ALL ORIGINAL EXCELLENT CONDITION.
The Gibson GB3 guitar banjo is the Rolls Royce of guitar banjos. Nothing can touch them in terms of pure tone. The Loyd Loar designed, ball bearing spring activated, tone ring works better in these than they did on the 5 strings. I just had it professionally re-fretted with medium/jumbo fret wire and it plays beautifully. The back of the neck has been oversprayed, otherwise original finish. OHSC $5,700
